Looking ahead to after Labor Day

Green Building Industry and LEED Economic Impact Report

We have completed an economic impact report with Booz Allen Hamilton. The report will look at the economic contribution of the green building industry and LEED to the US economy and a deeper dive on the economic impact in a number of states. We will launch this report the week of September 14th and will have materials available to chapter advocates in the upcoming weeks.

Green Apple Day of Service

It's almost that time of year, again! It's almost time for Green Apple Day of Service on Saturday, September 26th. Check out the website to find out projects already registered. If you have an idea for a service project, remember to register it at MyGreenApple.org!

Green Apple Day of Service is an excellent opportunity for you to invite local elected officials who represent the location of the project. Here is a template invite to mayors that you can modify for any elected official. And if you would like to invite media to the event, here is a sample media advisory that you can personalize to the project.

2016 Advocacy Plans

You may be thinking, "it is too early to start thinking about 2016," but there are a number of things that your chapter can do to prepare for legislative sessions in 2016.

1.  Reach out to state legislators while they are in district and set-up a meeting to share the economic impact report or invite them on a green building tour.

2.  Start brainstorming with chapter advocates about the issues you would like to champion in 2016.

3. Assess your chapter's capacity to do advocacy. The Alliance for Justice offers a free Advocacy Evaluation Tool that helps organizations assess their capacity and gets them thinking about areas for improvement.
